From humble beginnings as a small local business, we now employ 50+ people in three cities, Australia-wide. Over the decades we’ve developed into three distinct brands, with multiple divisions. Our history gives us the knowledge and experience to meet the functional and aesthetic requirements of every client. Our product range has evolved over the years to do the same. Our quality products and great customer service bring early success, allowing us to take a big step forward and establish a production facility in Sydney’s inner south.
We print our first ever lighting catalogue featuring a range of 30+ metal halide, halogen and compact fluorescent downlights and spotlights.
We reach a new milestone when our PF04 70W and 150W metal halide downlight becomes our best-selling luminaire.
Our first company website is launched, delivering better access to information and improved communication, with the aim of growing the brand nationally.
The success continues. We relocate to a new building in Rosebery after outgrowing our previous production facility.
With technological advancements in LED lighting, we begin research and development into LED technology. We hire our first designer who is responsible for lighting designs and producing Trend’s first catalogue.
After 25 years of innovation, production and exceptional customer service, we celebrate our biggest milestone – 25 years of Trend Lighting. This year we also release our first LED luminaire, the XDA13, followed closely by the XDM28 and XDL52.
Our business develops further amid increasing demand for LED luminaires. Our production increases and we open a new manufacturing plant. Shortly after, we launch our first LED lighting catalogue with the addition of over 25+ LED luminaires.
We move to a larger head office and warehouse in Mascot, with enough room to house the company’s office space, production facility and a 3000 sqm warehouse for storage and distribution. We also open a new sales office in Brisbane to cater to the growing requirements of our Queensland customer base.
We’re awarded the Westpac Business of Tomorrow Award. This award recognises outstanding Australian businesses that are shaping the future.
We open a sales office in Melbourne to better service the market and support our local clients and partners on the Australian eastern seaboard.
Investment in our facilities continues and we announce our expansion plans for a company head office in Mascot. Our new office building now houses the head/sales division of the company along with our creative division. This is the year that we introduce our sister company – Trend Laboratories – specialising in interior design and testing, photometric testing and design services for the lighting industry.
We reach our biggest milestone and celebrate 35 years of staff dedication, product innovation and customer satisfaction. We also announce the launch of Trend For Trade – lighting products that exclusively cater to the wholesale and trade market.
We commence photometric testing at our in-house laboratory in Sydney using a near-field goniophotometer and spectroradiometer. The arrival of this state-of-the-art photometric testing technology helps us refine our products further by giving us vital information on the luminous intensity, beam distribution, colour consistency, colour quality and spectral distribution of each lumianire.
We are embracing growth and change – and becoming more future-focused. We redesign our brand to symbolise our ambition for unity and growth, combining our strengths from the past with our excitement for the future. We launch a new website that demonstrates our stronger identity and a shift to greater sustainability.
