33 Argyle St

33 Argyle Street, residing in the heart of Parramatta, is a high-quality commercial office building with a conservative footprint of 5200 sqm.

Parramatta is a thriving microcosm of urban life, filled with businesses, major retail shops and office towers and has a rich tapestry of cultural heritage. This booming western district has been undergoing a rejuvenation process and is fast becoming Sydney's second central business district (CBD).

33 Argyle Street, residing in the heart of Parramatta, is a high-quality commercial office building with a conservative footprint of 5200 sqm. Built in 1987, the office tower has 6 levels of office space, 3 levels of above-ground car parking and has recently undergone a full refurbishment of the lobby, forecourt, and amenities with a newly built cafe in the lobby.

Trend Lighting was commissioned to elevate the ambience of the space through lighting, strengthening the office tower's position to capture positive rent reversion. Through thoughtful lighting design application and beautiful detailing of fixtures, the reception lobby completely transformed into an urban retreat and set itself to be the next key landmark within the wider Parramatta redevelopment.

Entering from Argyle Street, guests are welcomed with criss-cross pattern ceiling seamlessly integrated with Trend's XF24120B LED strip with flat aluminium extrusion. Equipped with opal diffuser, this ceiling feature does not only control the direction of luminosity but also projects warm and soft light.

There is limited materiality that informs the colour palette throughout the lobby, which continues to the amenities. Terracotta brick cladding, neutral and rose-coloured stone finishes, and brass accents set the interior scene for 33 Argyle Street.

The office space is strategically positioned, benefitting from four sides of natural light views across Parramatta CBD. Whilst this can be seen as a visual respite, it also presented some challenges in finding the right contrast between artificial lighting and natural lighting.

This was addressed by delivering a lighting solution that exudes a sense of calm and balance. Walls are highlighted and evenly lit with LSA wall washers, allowing the interior fabric to look much brighter and wider. Circulation areas are generously illuminated with XMC recessed square adjustable downlights, a timeless luminaire that helped craft the ambience and flow of spaces.
