Thoughtful lighting design applications. Beautiful detailing of our luminaires.
33 Argyle Street Parramatta Nsw
From reception to urban retreat
33 Argyle Street has a conservative footprint of 5200 sqm. Built in 1987, the office tower has 6 levels of office spaces and 3 levels of above-ground car parking.
The right commercial lighting solution is one of the most valuable investments you can make when updating your office environment. The lighting solutions for 33 Argyle Street were designed to improve health and well-being, cut costs and enhance energy efficiency. Through thoughtful lighting design and beautiful fixtures, we helped transform the reception lobby into an urban retreat. This reimagined space provides a beautiful welcome for its tenants and their guests, while also setting the building up as the next key landmark within Parramatta’s redevelopment.
We created the entire lighting solution for a variety of environments within the building. After completing all the lighting calculations, we used a range of our decorative luminaires and developed a custom pendant light fitting to meet the client’s unique requirements.
Entering from Argyle Street, guests are greeted with a criss-cross pattern ceiling, seamlessly integrated with our XF24120B LED strip with flat aluminium extrusion combination. Equipped with the opal diffuser accessory, the ceiling feature controls the direction of luminosity while also projecting warm and soft light.
There is limited materiality that informs the colour palette throughout the lobby, which continues to the amenities. Terracotta brick cladding, neutral and rose-coloured stone finishes, and brass accents set the interior scene for 33 Argyle Street.
The office space is strategically positioned, benefitting from four sides of natural light views across Parramatta CBD. Whilst this can be seen as a visual respite, it also presented some challenges in finding the right contrast between artificial lighting and natural lighting.
This was addressed by delivering a lighting solution that exudes a sense of calm and balance. Walls are highlighted and evenly lit with LSA wall washers, allowing the interior fabric to look much brighter and wider. Circulation areas are generously illuminated with XMC recessed square adjustable downlights, a timeless luminaire that helped craft the ambience and flow of spaces.
Working together to meet the client’s needs
We collaborated with Northrop and Complete Electrical to meet the tight technical, environmental and budgetary requirements of this project. As part of the lighting solution, our team also worked with Gray Puksands to develop a unique luminaire solution catered to the entry lobby of the building. This involved the creation of a custom made miniature pendant for the building’s foyer.
Throughout this project we offered improved solutions, and provided lighting aesthetics that exceeded the architect’s expectation. By meeting the AS1680.1 lighting standards we helped Complete Electrical successfully achieve their lighting goals and delivered a lighting solution with increased cost savings – on time and on budget.
