Light that makes a workplace feel like somewhere you actually want to be.
Presynct Workspace
Presynct is a workplace strategy and change specialists, and their 366 sqm Brisbane headquarters was designed to be exactly that, a state-of-the-art space that fosters innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity, while showcasing what a genuinely human-centred workplace can look and feel like. Every detail was curated with intention, from smart lockers and acoustic wellness technology through to street art and flexible settings that shift between private hub and shared event space.
Designed by WMK Architecture, the space had to carry a specific residential warmth while overcoming a significant challenge: a heritage building with limited natural light. Trend Lighting was engaged to supply a lighting scheme that could carry that vision across every zone. NDY provided the services engineering, designing the lighting layout and Action Australia project managed to deliver the design into reality.
Track spots and deep recessed downlights, all specified at 3500K, are deployed throughout from the kitchen and long stone bar, where warm light pools over bookmatched stone and rattan pendants, through to the open work floor, where the same track system draws the eye toward a vivid mural wall and living greenery.
In the front tenancy, where small windows offered little daylight, the lighting does the heavy lifting entirely, washing over exposed concrete, heritage brick, and timber to create depth and warmth where natural light simply wasn’t available.
At 3000K, the space would have felt cosy at the cost of feeling capable. At 4000K, the warmth of the raw stone, heritage brick, and timber joinery would have been lost entirely. 3500K sits at the considered midpoint, warm enough to honour the materiality, neutral enough to support a full day of focused work. Every surface finds its character under this light rather than being flattened by it.
In the zones where natural light was most limited, the specification was critical. At 3500K, artificial light doesn’t feel like a substitute. It feels intentional. The space simply feels warm, open, and alive.
Residential enough to feel like a home. Crisp enough to support focused work. Different functions, different moments, unified by a single, precise choice of colour temperature.
